Facebook Timeline for Pages-What you need to know

As you may have heard, Facebook has announced a change for the layout of Pages.  So, come March 30th, your existing Facebook Page will have a new format and functionality-enter “Timeline for Facebook Pages”.

The good news: your custom tab will still be there.

You don’t need to make any changes to your existing Facebook Page, but you may want to make it more visually appealing and choose a “cover photo”.  Take a look at our post here on how to do that!  What are your thoughts on these changes?

Choosing a “Cover Photo” for your Facebook Page

Our clients have been asking about this.  Initially, you don’t have to include a cover photo.

Once you are ready to add one though, there are some specific rules to follow.

Cover images must be at least 399 pixels wide and may not contain:

  • Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
  • Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section
  • References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
  • Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”

See the below link from Facebook directly for more details.
